A Door to Another World

It's not a joke. This door is an entrance to one of two necropolis, which is situated in The Alexander Nevsky Lavra.

As I wrote before, it's the oldest cemetery in Saint-Petersburg, more over these two necropolises are the museum of urban sculpture as well. Early it was very prestigious to be buried here. And all famous and outstanding people of 18-19-th centuries of Saint-Petersburg are lying behind this door…

Chesmenskaja Church

Chesmenskaja church has one of the most unusual architecture in Saint-Petersburg. It was built in honor of victory of Russian Navy over Turkish. This battle took place in Chesma bay, that's why this name was given to the church.
