About

I love my native Saint-Petersburg and I would like to share with you photos of this beautiful Russian city. The city of white nights, canals and rivers, city of bridges and palaces. Every day a new Saint-Petersburg photo appears on this site. Your comments and wish list are welcomed!

You post realy beautiful photos of your city. But it’s very interesting have the city the “dark” side?

  2. Kate Says:

    Nikolaj, surely!
A society can’t exist in light colours only. Every city, town or any “living community” has its own problems.
For instance, here I’ve shown one illustration.
Honestly speaking I wouldn’t wish to post a lot of such shots, since as I understand the main idea of “dailyphoto” is to show the beauty of the world.
I don’t shut my eyes to such things, but guess there are a lot of other recourses in the net for showing them.

Thank you for the answer. Yes, I’ve seen this joyless photo. I guess I understand you. Such pictures are always near to us and it isn’t bad idea to make a place, where people could forget this for a short time.

I like your pictures and enjoy seeing the old and historic city sights, but also the changes every city undergoes. I also appreciate the information/history you give with your photos - that takes an extra effort and isn’t always possible. Keep up the good work!

    Hello.
I was surfing on the net, and somehow i found your website.
Saint Petersburg seems to be an amazing city. I loved all the photos you´ve posted here.
As i was born and raised in Brazil, most of the views here are completely different from those you show us. So, it´s very interesting for me to have the chance to see a total different culture.
Your website gave me an increadable wish of visiting Russia one day. And maybe i will!
    Congratulations!

    Hi!

I was checking your web and it is very informative, thank you
for sharing it with all of us around the world.

I wonder if you can help me with my questions. My family is
planning to visit St. Petersburg, but the only time available is
the end of December to the first week of January, could you
be so kind to tell me if it is a good time of the year or not to
make the trip. Since we live in Miami, with summer all year
around, we love to visit other cities on winter, but we don’t
know how hard is the winter in that region of Russia.

I would like to thank you in advance for your time and
    Consideration.

    Best regards

    George

    Dear George!
I’ll be honest with you concerning the weather in our city. The weather in this period could be very different. But it’ll be cold for you in any way, since you said you live in Miami! Now my thermometer shows minus 1 centigrade. But the atmosphere is very chilly and dank, since our city is situated just near the river and there’are a lot of channels here everywhere.
You can see the temperature and other weather conditions here:
    http://www.gismeteo.ru/weather/towns/26063.htm
    Ветер,
метр/сек - windspeed (meter in sec.)
    Влажность
    воздуха,% - air moisture
    Tемпература
воздуха, °C - air temperature (by Celsius)

But there are some advantages of visiting SPb in this period; it’s the holiday time and since our main holiday is New Year celebration, the sity is decorated fascinatingly! And such suburbs like Pavlovs and Pushkin (Tsarskoe selo) are incredibly good if they’re snow-covered in this time!

But if you eventually take dicision to visit SPb in this period, I would highly recommend you to take with you sweater, warm coat, scarf and cap, and don’t forget about warm shoes!

Well, and one more thing. Take an umbrella with you, since, for instance, last winter it was raining almost the whole winter!

    Good luck!

    Kate.

    Hey!
I was very pleased to wind yöur websites! I LOVE St. Petersburg. I live myself in Kotka and it´s not far away from St. Petersburg - as you know. It´s quite easy to take a day or two trip to your beautiful city. It´s somehow modern but yet very traditional.
I have to put your sites to my favourites, they help to keep longing away… :-D
